History
At the end of 2018, we opened our doors in the Waterloopbos. The pavilion houses restaurant Het ProefLab and the visitor center of Natuurmonumenten. The pavilion is located next to the Deltawerk monument, providing a beautiful setting for a delicious cup of coffee, before or after a lovely walk through the Waterloopbos.
The name ProefLab originates from a creative process. From 1951 to 1996, the hydraulic engineering laboratory 'De Voorst' was located in what is now the Waterloopbos. Here, scale experiments were conducted to gain hydraulic engineering knowledge. In our restaurant, of course, you can also taste all kinds of things. This play on words led to the name Het ProefLab. The two// symbolize the concrete panels that were placed at an angle in the Deltawerk//.
